ELLISVILLE – No. 8 Jones College jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat Hinds 4-0 here Tuesday night in the home-opener at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Itai Allen (England) got the first two goals at 8:22 and 23:21.
John Mark Rose (Jackson Prep) assisted on the second goal. Leighton James (Northern Ireland) headed the ball into the net on a pass from
Adam Lynch (Ireland) just before the half at 44:06.
Chris Dempsey (Ireland) added the final goal at 48:05.
Goalkeeper
Peyton Wilbanks (Madison Central) played all 90 minutes and had two saves.
The Bobcats took 23 shots, including 13 shots on goal. The Eagles had eight shots and two shots on goal.
Jones had 10 corner kicks compared to just one for Hinds.
The Bobcats, 2-0, go to Pearl River for the MACCC South Division opener at 7 p.m. Monday.
Hinds, 0-2, will be at home vs. Itawamba on Monday.
