ELLISVILLE – No. 11 Jones used six different goal scorers and outshot Southwest Mississippi 41-1 in a 7-0 rout Tuesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Jones improved to 4-1, 2-1 in the MACCC while handing Southwest (3-3, 2-1) its first conference loss.
The Bobcats scored four first-half goals, including a Southwest own goal in the 33rd minute.
Morgan Durning got the scoring frenzy started in the 6th minute, using a cross by
Kendyl Terrell to find the back of the net. Terrell added her a goal of her own in the 26th minute and
Natasha Keen scored in the 35th to make it 4-0 at the half.
Just 30 seconds into the second,
Anna Crane extended the lead to 5-0.
Keona Crowell and
Zylah Mulligan added their first goals of the season in the 59th and 78th minutes.
Jones dominated on the stat sheet, 41-1 in shots (26-0 on goal) and 12-0 in corner kicks.
Danae Fowler and
Baylee Boyette did not face a shot in goal.
Jones will travel to Meridian on Friday for a 5 p.m. kick.
