ELLISVILLE – The magical season continues for No. 12 Jones College.
 
The Bobcats captured the Region 23 championship here Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
Jones, who earlier had won the MACCC title, improved to 20-0 with a 5-0 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast.
 
It was JC's fifth region championship and the first since 2018.
 
The Bobcats will head to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament May 1-5 in Mesa, Arizona.
 
Copiah-Lincoln defeated East Central 5-0 in the third place contest and will also head to nationals, along with Jones and Gulf Coast.
 
In No. 1 doubles, Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) beat Krissy Georgieva and Kasey Kent, 8-6. Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) and Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) whipped Kaylen Bond and Anna Stringer in No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Addy Seward (Richland) and Allie Johnson (Hernando) defeated Tia Topps and Ashlea Chelette in No. 3 doubles, 8-3. 
 
Mills blanked Stringer 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles and Seward clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Bond. Vlascneau had won the first set of her match vs. Georgieva, Höddinghaus had lost the first set of her match with Kent and Chism was tied 1-1 in the first set with Topps when the match ended.
 
Jones also collected plenty of hardware on Saturday.
 
Head Coach Brooks Buffington was named MACCC and Region 23 Women's Coach of the Year.
 
Vlasceaunu and Mills were awarded MACCC No. 1 doubles runnerup and Vlasceanu was named MACCC No. 1 singles runnerup.
 
Vlasceanu and Seward were named All-MACCC, as voted on by the coaches.
