Kendyl Terrell (Hattiesburg) scored two goals and No. 6 Jones College defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast 2-1 here Friday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
Jones is now 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the MACCC and has beaten Gulf Coast 11 straight. The Bulldogs fell to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, Terrell got the first goal off of her own rebound in the 51st minute.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the 54th minute when Hannah Salter scored via an assist by Molly Etchells, but Terrell answered just 45 seconds later with a goal off an assist by
Caragan Childs (Sumrall).
Danae Fowler (Bay) went the distance in goal, had a save and got the win. Skyler Steede played the entire game in goal for the Bulldogs and recorded eight saves.
Jones took 22 shots in the game with 10 shots on goal. MGCCC had nine shots with two shots on goal.
The Bobcats had four corner kicks and the Bulldogs had two. MGCCC was called for 14 fouls and Jones had nine.
Jones hosts Southwest in its next match at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
MGCCC hosts East Central on Sunday.
