POPLARVILLE – Sometimes it takes a little bit of good fortune, and that's exactly what allowed Pearl River to beat No. 6 Jones on Monday night.
Lined up for a free kick from nearly 40 yards out, Erin Clifford sailed a shot into the upper right corner of the net, just passed the reaching arms of
Danae Fowler, for the golden goal in the 97th minute and a 1-0 PRCC win.
Jones (2-1) doubled up the Wildcats (2-1-1) in shots and shots-on-goal, but it was the home team who scored the game's lone goal in extra time.
It was the first goal allowed by Jones in 276 minutes this season.
Fowler had three saves for the Bobcats against 10 for Kylie Dailey.
Jones will host division rival Gulf Coast on Friday, April 16 at 5 p.m. on
JCJC.TV.
