ELLISVILLE – Jones College claimed its fifth straight match with a 7-2 decision over Meridian here Monday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 12-1 overall, 11-1 in the MACCC. Jones will host East Central at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the final match before spring break. The match will air on JCJC.TV.
Meridian, 3-9, will face Eastern Florida State College on March 19 in Pensacola, Florida.
The Bobcats won all of the doubles' points.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) edged Matthew Tennant and Taylor Jefcoat in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (4).
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) beat Dieter Gonzalez and Colin Hartman in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) whipped William Frank and Cainan Black in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Vanecek downed Gonzalez in No. 2 singles, 6-1,6-4. Hilton defeated Jefcoat in No. 4 singles,6-2, 6-1.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) downed Black in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) beat Cameron Garrett in No. 6 singles,6-1,7-5. Meda lost 0-6, 4-6 to Tennant in No. 1 singles. Panzica fell to Hartman in No. 3 singles, 5-7, 3-6. In an extra match,
Jack Owens (Brandon) won 6-3.
