UTICA – In a rematch between Jones and Hinds eight days later, the Bulldogs held the Bobcats to one field goal the final six minutes and stole a 71-69 win Friday afternoon at J.D. Boyd Gym.
Jones had a five-game winning streak snapped in the loss and fell to 6-5. Hinds improved to 11-2 and stayed unbeaten at home.
Jones was in complete control and led for all but six minutes on the afternoon and by as many as 11 in the first half.
Tied at 57-57 with just over eight minutes to play, Jones strung together a 9-4 run to go ahead 66-61.
But the Bobcats would miss six of their final seven shots and turned it over five times to allow Hinds to stay in it.
Hinds outscored Jones 10-3 the final six minutes and got a big steal and layup with 32 seconds left to take the lead for good.
Both teams shot over 42 percent on the afternoon, with Hinds winning the turnover battle that proved to be the difference late.
Four Bobcats finished in double figures, led by 20 from
Tradavis Thompson.

Damerius Wash had 22 for Hinds, going 12-for-12 at the free throw line. Jordan Johnson added 19.
