Box Score ELLISVILLE – The 14th-ranked Jones College Bobcats returned from spring break on a successful note.
The Bobcats defeated Coastal Alabama-South 8-1 here Monday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 14-1 overall and will host Hinds at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Coastal Alabama-South, 3-6, hosts Wallace St.-Hanceville on March 30.
The Bobcats got off to a strong start by winning all of the doubles' points.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) defeated Ian May and Caleb Richardson in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) beat Patrick Waggoner and Cody Bonds in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) downed Channing Townshend and Ethan Steed in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Meda whipped May in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Vanecek beat Waggoner in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Hilton downed Bonds in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) defeated Richardson in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) beat Jonathan Akins in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Panzica lost 4-6, 3-6 to Townshend in No. 3 singles. In an extra match, Wallis whipped Steed, 6-2, 6-0.
