DECATUR – Jones College improved to 5-0 with a 6-3 victory over East Central here Friday afternoon at the ECCC Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats will visit Holmes for a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday.
East Central, 1-2, hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
Jones won two of the doubles' points.
Gaspar Meda (Spain) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) defeated Ian Gordon and Chris Albert in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) blanked Garrett Crimm and Samuel Turner in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) lost 7-9 in No. 1 doubles to Chris Lawrence and Isaac Santitto. In an extra match,
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) and
Jack Owens (Brandon) defeated Steed Springfield and Jacob Gardner, 8-3.
Panzica beat Albert in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-0. Hilton blanked Gordon in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) whipped Crimm in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Myers shut out Springfield in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 1 singles, Meda fell to Lawrence, 2-6, 3-6. In No. 2 singles, Vanecek was edged by Santitto, 6-4, 5-7,8-10.
In extra matches, Wallis whipped Gardner, 6-0, 6-1. Jabour defeated Turner, 8-2.
