RAYMOND – The Jones College Bobcats posted an 8-1 victory at Hinds here Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats bounced back after absorbing its first loss of the season in its previous match vs. Gulf Coast.
Jones is now 8-1 overall, 7-1in the MACCC. The Bobcats will travel to Itawamba on Thursday for a 2 p.m. match (was Friday).
Hinds, 0-6, travels to Southwest Wednesday.
The Bobcats opened the match winning two of the doubles' points.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) whipped Chambers Bethea and Bryce Ramshur in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) beat Justin Humphreys and Jordan Paul in No. 3 doubles, 8-3. In No. 1 doubles,
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) fell 3-8 to Abraham Gonzalez and
Kwanda Mbalekwa.
Jones won all of the singles' matches.
Meda defeated Mbalekwa in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Vanecek downed Gonzalez in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 7-5. Panzica rallied by Bethea in No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. Hilton whipped Paul in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) beat Ramshur in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) defeated Humphreys in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
In an extra doubles' match, Myers and
Jack Owens (Brandon) defeated Dalton Jones and Eli Sykes, 8-5. In extra singles' matches, Wallis defeated Jones, 8-0, and Owens downed Brennan Wells.
