Big Bats Carry No. 2 Jones in Sun Chief Classic

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Lauren Lindsey, Tia'Rain Saunders and Lauren Pope combined for 23 of the Bobcats' 49 hits in a 3-1 weekend at the annual Sun Chief Classic last weekend. 

No. 2 Jones improved to 9-1 on the season, with the lone blemish a 14-13 setback to Central Alabama in extra innings.

JC will return home on Monday to host No. 9 Des Moines Area and Hinds in a three-way beginning at noon at The Bank.

Jones 12, Coastal Alabama-East 0 (5)

Mycah Hall's grand slam was part of an 8-run fourth frame that lifted the Bobcats to a run-rule victory. 

Five Bobcats finished with multiple hits in a 15-hit attack.

Sterling James (4-0) scattered two hits and no runs to stay perfect in the circle.

Jones 1, Northwest Florida State 0

Breley Boykin tossed a career-high 14 strikeouts and Kristian Edwards' solo home run in the third proved to be the difference in a 1-0 win against Northwest Florida.

Hits were hard to come by, with Jones finishing with four and the Raiders held to two.

Jones 8, Wallace State 5

Jones handed the Lions their first loss of the year in a hitfest to kick off Saturday's slate. 

The Bobcats had five doubles and two home runs, led by Tyesha Cole's 2-for-4 game with four RBIs.

Boykin moved to 5-0 in a complete-game win. 

Central Alabama 14, Jones 13

Trailing 9-6 after five innings, the Bobcats rallied for seven runs over the last two innings to force extras.

Lauren Pope and Lauren Lindsey had huge games, with Pope going 4-for-5 with seven RBIs and Lindsey going 4-for-5 with four RBIs.

Nia Luckett took the loss in her first outing of the season.
