PERKINSTON – Jones College lost an 8-1 decision to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College here Saturday afternoon at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
It was the first loss of the season for the Bobcats, who are now 7-1. Jones visits Hinds at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in its next match.
MGCCC, 6-0, hosts Itawamba on Monday.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) got JC's only victory of the day, rallying past Grant Eubanks in No. 6 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
In No. 1 doubles,
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) were edged 6-8 by Seth Macute and Wesley Fontaine.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) lost 3-8 to Pedro Molero and Clay Fudge in No. 2 doubles.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) lost 5-8 to Anderson Dulaney and Jackson Ward in No. 3 doubles.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) and
Jack Owens (Brandon) lost in an extra match 8-9 (3-7).
Meda lost to Macute in No. 1 singles, 0-6, 3-6. Vanecek fell to Molero in No. 2 singles, 2-6,4-6. Hilton dropped a 1-6, 3-6 decision to Fontaine in No. 3 singles. Panzica lost in a close match in No. 4 singles to Fudge, 6-7, 6-7 and
