DECATUR – East Central scored the game's opening basket before No. 7 Jones scored 30 of the next 38 to take control and eventually pull away for a 74-46 win Monday night at Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium.
Jones improved to 3-0 with the victory, while EC fell to 0-2.
Newcomers
JaKayla Johnson and
Daisha Bradford combined for 27 first-half points, outscoring the Lady Warriors by four. Jones led 30-10 after the opening quarter.
The Bobcat defense turned it up a notch in the second half, holding EC to 23 percent shooting from the floor and 0-7 from beyond the arc.
Jones led by as many as 30 with 7:46 to play.
Johnson finished with a game-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds and six steals. Bradford added 14 and
Jordan Clark had nine points and five boards off the bench.
EC didn't have a player finish in double figures. Asia Madison and Shemaiah Smith had eight apiece.
The Bobcats will host Southwest Mississippi (1-0) on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. on
