Hakmaoui's hat-trick paces JC in lopsided, 7-0 win over No. 17 Meridian

ELLISVILLE – Yussef Hakmaoui netted his first collegiate hat-trick and Elean Fajardo added two goals and three assists to pace No. 8 Jones to a 7-0 blowout win over No. 17 Meridian Friday night.

Jones won its third straight to improve to 10-3, 6-3 in the division. Meridian fell to 7-6-1, 2-6-1.

The Bobcats have clinched a spot in the MACCC playoffs in November, but are waiting to find out if they'll be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed out of the south.

Hakmaoui scored the first of his three goals in the 38th minute to start the scoring and made it 2-0 with 46 seconds left before half.

Jones poured it on the final 45 minutes, scoring three goals in a 2:30 span. Andrew Craig scored his fifth of the year off a great cross by Fajardo, and Elean added back-to-back goals in 34 seconds to make it 6-0.

Leighton Jameson capped the scoring in the 68th minute.

Jones outshot Meridian 24-4, including 14-1 on goal.

Garrett Wise and Tyler Harris combined for the Bobcats' fifth shutout between the posts.

The Bobcats close out the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Co-Lin.
