No. 6 Bobcats fall to No. 4 Pearl River

ELLISVILLE – No. 6 Jones College dropped a 3-1decision to No. 4 Pearl River here Tuesday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
 
The loss ended a 14-game home winning streak for the Bobcats. Jones is now 7-3 overall, 3-3 in the MACCC South Division.
 
The Wildcats improve to 8-0-1 overall, 6-0 in the division.
 
PRCC took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when Andre Nicholson scored off an assist by Jason Irias.
 
Mohamed Dialo's goal off an assist by Ryley Smith gave Pearl River a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute.
 
The Bobcats' only goal came on a penalty kick by Leighton James (Ireland) in the 72nd minute. It was Jameson's first goal of the year and it was only the third goal allowed by PRCC all season.
 
But Diallo answered quickly with a goal in the 73rd minute with Harper Baggett getting the assist.
 
Garrett Wise (Madison Central) played the entire game in goal for Jones and had four saves.
 
Maddux Francis went the distance for PRCC and had five saves.
 
Each team had 11 shots with the Wildcats getting seven shots on goal and Jones getting six. PRCC had 14 fouls and Jones had nine. The Bobcats had seven corner kicks compared to three for Pearl River. 
 
The Bobcats travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast for a 7 p.m. match on Friday.
 
Pearl River hosts Southwest on Friday.
