ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats defeated Itawamba 7-2 here Wednesday afternoon at the Jones College Tennis Complex.
It also marked the first time ever for JC home tennis matches to be livestreamed at JCJC.TV.
The Bobcats, 2-0, travel to Meridian for a 2 p.m. match on Friday and will host Southwest at 2 p.m. on Feb. 2.
Jones swept the doubles' points.
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) beat Sergio Garcia and Rhonzo Olaechea, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) defeated Grayson Godbold and Jacambrian Madlock in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) downed Russell Moorman and Torean King in No. 3 doubles, 8-6. In an extra match, JC's
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) and
Jack Owens (Brandon) beat Will Buskirk and Luke Bolen, 8-4.
In No. 2 singles, Vanecek beat Olaechea, 6-0, 6-1 and in No. 3 singles, Hilton whipped Godbold, 6-1, 6-1. In No. 4 singles, Panzica downed Madlock, 6-0, 6-3 and in No. 6 singles, Myers defeated King, 6-4, 6-0. Meda lost 2-6, 2-6 to Garcia in No. 1 singles and Parman fell in a close match in No. 5 singles to Moorman, 5-7, 6-2, 8-10.
In extra matches, Wallis defeated Bolen, 6-1, 7-5 and Jabour blanked Buskirk, 6-0, 6-0.
ICC, 1-1, hosts Gulf Coast on Friday.
