MERIDIAN – The Jones College men's tennis team opened the 2021 season in impressive fashion here Saturday afternoon at the Northeast Park Tennis Center.
The Bobcats beat Marion Military Institute (Alabama), 8-1.
Jones swept the doubles' points to open the match.
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) edged Joseph Tanjuatco and George Hunter in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-5).
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) whipped Preston Smith and Emmanuel Warner in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Braxton Wallis (Brookhaven) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) defeated Dominique Ingram and Drake Devalle in No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Meda outlasted Hunter in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5. Hilton defeated Smith, 6-1, 6-7, 10-7 in No. 3 singles. Panzica whipped Ingram, 6-0, 6-4 in No. 4 singles.
Greyson Parman (Warren Central) beat Devalle in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) downed Nicholas Johnson in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Vanacek fell to Tanjuatco in No. 2 singles, 1-6, 6-4 6-10.
