ELLISVILLE – It took until the first day of March, but the Jones College softball team finally played a home game.
Jones defeated No. 3 Des Moines Area, 4-0, and Northwest Mississippi, 13-1, in five innings to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Ten Bobcats combined for 22 hits, including five doubles and seven home runs, and the pitching staff allowed one earned run in 12 innings.

Tyesha Cole each hit solo home runs and
Lauren Stringer improved to 4-0 in the circle with a complete-game, four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Edwards homered to lead off the game for JC in the bottom of the first, sending a 2-2 pitch over the fence in right.
Wynne homered in the fourth to finish the game 3-for-3 and Cole went deep in the fifth before
Maycee Knight's RBI-single gave JC a 4-0 lead after five.
Jones 13, Northwest 1 (5 inn.)
After allowing a run in the top of the first, Jones batted around in the bottom half and scored eight runs on eight hits with two home runs to run away from the Rangers early.
Molly Beth Ferguson's RBI-single gave Northwest the early 1-0 lead.
LP Trammell homered in the second to finish the game 3-for-3 to lead a 14-hit attack, while
Lauren Pope went deep twice to finish with a game-high four RBIs.
All nine Bobcats in the lineup recorded a hit.
McKenna Polk scattered four hits, one run and two strikeouts over three frames while
Sterling James tossed two shutout innings with two strikeouts to close the game.
Jones will welcome East Mississippi to The Bank on Friday, March 6 for a 4 p.m. doubleheader to open conference play. It's part of an eight-game homestand.
