ELLISVILLE – Jones College used a dominant first half performance to crush Pearl River 37-13 here Thursday night at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
The Bobcats led 20-0 after the first quarter and 30-0 at halftime as they captured the 90th annual "Catfight." The Bobcats outgained PRCC 321-154 in total offense in the first half.
JC now leads the series, 46-42-2.
Running back
Paul Hughes II (Forest) rushed 15 times for 128 yards and a touchdown and running back
Romal Webb (Memphis, Tennessee) had 10 carries for 53 yards and a score.
Quarterback
Quaterius Hawkins (Bastrop, Louisiana) completed 9-of-17 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, safety
Tylan Glass (Nanih Waiya) had 13 tackles, tackle
Jalen Williams (Tylertown) had 11 stops and linebacker
DeLawrence Butler (Clinton) had 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss.
Hershey McLaurin (Collins),
Travor Randle (Greenwood) and
Ty Rawls (Wetumpka, Alabama) each had pass interceptions.
Kenderian Dixon (Yazoo County) was credited with a fumble recovery.
The Bobcats forced five turnovers for the second time this season. Jones ended the game with 366 yards and 21 first downs. The Wildcats had 372 yards and 23 first downs.

The Bobcats scheduled game at Mississippi Gulf Coast on Nov. 5 has been postponed because of COVID-19 issues at MGCCC.
Pearl River, 1-3, hosts Southwest on Nov. 5.
The Bobcats scored on all five of their first half possessions.
Jones drove 52 yards in seven plays for its first score as Hawkins rushed three yards for the touchdown. The extra point attempt was blocked and the Bobcats led 6-0 10:27 to play in the first quarter.
The Wildcats drove to a first and goal at the Jones 1, but a PRCC fumble was recovered by Dixon to end the threat.
JC would then drive 96 yards in eight plays after the turnover.
Hughes would put together runs of 57 and 12 yards in the drive and Webb capped it with a 2-yard run.
Gavin Gaudin's (Northwest Rankin) extra point made it 13-0 with 3:52 to play in the opening quarter.
Jones then went 61 yards in two plays for its next score.
Hawkins completed a 34-yard pass to
Ashton Nickelberry (Brandon) and followed that up with a 27-yard scoring strike to
Hershey McLaurin (Collins). Gaudin's PAT made it 20-0 with 59 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Bobcats would then recover a fumble at the Wildcat 40 to set up the next touchdown.
Hughes scored from a yard out to end the seven-play march and Gaudin's extra point made it 27-0 with 11:24 to play in the second quarter.
Jones then put together a 90-yard, 10-play drive. The big lplay was a 36-yard run by Hughes. Gaudin ended the march with a 22-yard field goal to give Jones a 30-0 lead with 3:37 to play in the first half.
Late in the third quarter, the Wildcats would start its first scoring drive of the game. Dymarcus "DD" Griffin scored on a 3-yard run to end the 60-yard, 15-play march. The extra point attempt failed and the Bobcats led 30-6 with 14:00 left in the game.
PRCC would then recover a fumble at the Bobcat 41, but five plays later, Rawls got an interception and returned it to the Wildcat 48.
Three plays later,
Antonio Spencer (Collins) scored on a 3-yard run. Gaudin's kick made it 37-6 with 11:05 remaining.
The Wildcats would then move back into Jones territory, but a Randle interception at the Bobcat 15 ended the threat.
Pearl River ended the scoring when Chris Holifield Jr. scored on a 34-yard run and Gayden Hence added the extra point with 4:43 to play.
