Bobcats overwhelm Copiah-Lincoln, 90-63

ELLISVILLE – Kenneth Rogers (Starkville) had a career-high 27 points, Casey Smith Jr. (Columbus) dished out 13 assists and SharDarrion Allen (Raymond) had his seventh 'double-double' of the season as Jones College whipped Copiah-Lincoln 90-63 here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
 
Jones improves to 12-3 overall and 4-3 in the MACJC South Division.
 
The Bobcats took the lead for good at 7-5 four minutes deep into the game on a slam dunk by Allen. A jumper in the lane by John Rawls (East Marion) gave the Bobcats a 26-10 lead with 9:56 left in the opening half.
 
A 3-pointer by Rogers gave the Bobcats a 46-23 lead at 2:02 of the first half. Jones led 50-28 at halftime. 
 
Zachariah Malone's (Shady Grove, Louisiana) jumper put the Bobcats up 73-47 with 9:57 to play. Jones' biggest lead would be 90-61 with 42 seconds remaining after a pair of Sai Fisher (New Orleans, Louisiana) free throws.
 
Rogers was 10-of-19 from the field, including a 7-of-13 night from beyond the arc. Smith had eight points and seven rebounds in addition to his assists. He now has 108 assists on the year and is fifth in the nation in assists with 7.2 per game.
 
Allen had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Fisher had 13 points and Rawls finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
Tyree Lomax and Darius Kent led Co-Lin with 11 points each.
 
The Bobcats were 31-of-68 from the field (9-of-24 from 3-point range) for 46 percent. The Wolves were 22-of-62 from the floor (11-of-30 from 3-point range) for 36 percent. 
 
Jones blistered the nets from foul line, making 19-of-20 for 95 percent. The Wolves were 8-of-17 for 47 percent.
 
The Bobcats held a 49-32 rebound advantage and had 16 turnovers, compared to 18 for Co-Lin.
 
Jones begins the second half of division play with a a 7:30 p.m. game at Meridian on Thursday. The game will air on www.mcceagleslive.com.
 
Co-Lin, 6-10 overall and 1-6 in the division, travels to No. 3 Pearl River on Thursday.
