DECATUR – A hat-trick for freshman Chris Dempsey in the second half helped Jones pull away for a 5-0 win at East Central on Friday, its second straight road shutout.

Jones improved to 6-4 on the year while EC fell to 3-8.

An own goal in the 35th minute broke a scoreless tie. Justis Casey's cross into the box bounced off a Warrior defender and into the box as Jones led 1-0 at the break.

Dempsey and the Bobcats came out firing the final 45 minutes, scoring four goals in the half. Dempsey got his first in the 49th minute off a Callum Harley punt and added two more in the 63rd and 72nd minutes.

Itai Allen capped the scoring in the 80th minute with a brilliant goal into the upper right corner of the box from the left wing.

Jones will travel to Gulf Coast on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Perkinston. The match will be streamed live here courtesy of MGCCC.
