ELLISVILLE – The LSU Eunice Bengals defeated Jones College 4-2 here Tuesday night at Bobcat Soccer Field in a Region 23 matchup.
The Bengals took a 1-0 lead at 15:52 when Noah Wagner scored on an assist by Enzo Bodin. The Bobcats tied it at 33:57 when
Adam Lynch (Sligo, Ireland) headed it into the net off a cross by
Jordan Cochran (George County). LSUE took the lead for good at 44:20 when Albert Ibrahimi knocked it in the goal.
Jones pulled within 3-2 at 77:54 when
Justis Casey (Greene County) scored on a penalty kick.
The Bengals got some breathing room at 81:39 on a Parish Anderson goal.
Callum Harley (Whitney Bay, England) was in goal for 90 minutes and had 10 saves for Jones.
Jones had eight shots and six shots on goal, while LSUE had 19 shots and 14 shots on goal. LSUE had nine corner kicks and Jones had two. The Bobcats were whistled for 16 fouls and the Bengals were called for eight. The Bobcats had three yellow cards and LSUE had two.
Jones, 4-4, visits Northwest for a 3 p.m. contest on Sept. 24. LSU Eunice, 5-1, faces East Central in Meridian on Friday.
