VICKSBURG – Behind four different goal scorers, the Jones College Bobcats got off to a strong start to the 2019 season with a 4-1 victory at Hinds Thursday night.
The match was moved to Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi due to unplayable field conditions in Raymond.
Cris Rodrigo's rifle shot from 25 yards out broke a scoreless tie in the 13th minute. Hinds would tie things up in the 21st minute.
John Mark Rose put the Cats back in front, 2-1, four minutes later, following up a save by Dawson Albritton and hammering it home for the lead.
Chris Dempsey gave Jones a little breathing room in the 52nd minute, connecting on a penalty kick after Hinds was whistled for a hard foul in the box.
The final dagger for JC came in the 75th minute when
Zach Diaz delivered a great ball into the box that found a streaking
Peyton Ratcliff who headed it in for the 4-1 final.
Jones out-shot Hinds 21-14 on the night and 15-8 on goal. The Bobcats were whistled for 19 fouls against just seven for Hinds.
Callum Harley tallied seven saves in the win. Albritton finished with 11 for the Eagles.
