Itawamba edges Jones, 2-1

ELLISVILLE – Itawamba scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick and defeated Jones College 2-1 here Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Soccer Field.

The Bobcats scored first, taking a 1-0 lead at 3:54 when Alejandro Pocasangre (Pearl) scored with Itai Allen (Wolverhampton, England) getting the assist.

ICC tied it minutes later when Lando Nichols scored.

Irvin Rodriguez got the final goal at 32:59 on the penalty kick.

Callum Harley (Whitney Bay, England) was credited with five saves for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats had six shots and five shots on goal.

ICC had eight shots, seven shots on goal. Alex Box was in goal for the Indians and had four saves.

The Bobcats, 1-1, visit Holmes for a 7 p.m. game Monday at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

ICC, 1-0, travels to Southwest for a 3 p.m. match on Sunday.
