FULTON – The No. 24 Jones College edged Itawamba 5-4 here Firday afternoon.
The Bobcats end regular season play at 15-5 with that victory.
Jones trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but rallied with four wins in singles.
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and
Jacob Johnson (North Pike) defeated Reese Duncan and Sergio Garcia in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Jordi Morey (Spain) and
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) lost to Franco Roldan and Blake Gregory in No. 1 doubles, 6-8.
James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) and
Daniel Tanious (Laurel) lost to Hayden Embry and Zak Keith in No. 3 doubles, 5-8.
Monsalve defeated Garcia in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). Fischer outlasted Duncan in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 10-6. Johnson defeated Keith in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Tanious clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Brody Clayton in No. 6 singles. Morey lost to Rodan in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 5-7 and McWilliams fell to Embry in No. 5 singles, 1-6, 6-2, 0-1.
Jones will now participate in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament April 10-13 in Tupelo.
Itawamba, 4-8, visits East Central on Saturday.
