ELLISVILLE – No. 24 Jones College blanked Southwest 9-0 here Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
Jordi Morey (Spain) and
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) blanked Daniel Espinosa and Skyler Rasberry in No. 1 doubles, 8-0, and
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and Jody Johnson (North Pike) shut out Jexequiel Dela Cruz and Hunter Burgess in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.
Daniel Tanious (Laurel) and
Conner Henderson (Petal) beat Matthew Phillips and Luke Morgan in No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Morey defeated Espinosa in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and Monsalve whipped Phillips in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Fischer beat Rasberry in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Johnson downed Cullin Hendry in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Tanious defeated Morgan in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) beat Dela Cruz in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bobcats are 9-3, while the Bears are now 0-6 on the year.
Jones will return home on Saturday for two matches. The Bobcats host Copiah-Lincoln at 10:30 a.m. and Wallace St. at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats also be at home for a 2 p.m. match on Monday vs. Holmes.
Southwest hosts Holmes on Friday.
