Bobcats place six in double figures in rout of Meridian

ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats placed six players in double figures in a 98-60 victory over Meridian Community College here Monday evening at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

Jones, 9-0, was impressive in its MACJC South Division opener.

Kenneth Rogers (Starkville) led the way with 26 points, including an 8-for-11 performance from 3-point range. Shardarrion Allen (Raymond) posted his fourth straight 'double-double' with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Tradavis Thompson (Raymond) and Sai Fisher (New Orleans) had 13 points each, John Rawls (East Marion) added 12 and Ladarius Anderson (Jackson Provine) added 11. Casey Smith Jr. (Columbus) had a career-high 14 assists and nine rebounds. 

The Bobcats led 47-26 at halftime and held its largest lead at the end of the game. 

Jones outscored MCC 46-12 on points in the paint and 27-0 on fastbreak points. 

The Bobcats were 37-of-71 from the floor for 52 percent, including a 12-of-25 effort (40 percent) from beyond the arc. Jones was 12-of-19 from the free throw line for 63 percent. 

Jones outrebounded MCC, 50-39. The Bobcats had 28 assists on their 37 made field goals and the Eagles only had nine assists.

Justin Brown led Meridian with 18 points. Darryl Jordan and Horatio Parker had 14 points each.

The Bobcats will not play again until they go to Hinds on Jan. 9. The next home game for the Bobcats will be Jan. 13 vs. Pearl River.

MCC falls to 4-5 on the season. The Eagles visit East Mississippi on Jan. 6.
