ELLISVILLE –
Allie James and
Alexus Hodges scored their first goals of the season and three others found the back of the net as Jones pulled away from Southwest with four goals in the second half in a 6-1 win.
The Bobcats (10-6, 6-1) reached double digit wins for an 11th time in the last 12 seasons under head coach
Dolores Deasley. SMCC remained winless on the year.
James' first goal of the year broke a scoreless tie in the 34th minute.
Chelsea Morton would add her second goal of the year eight minutes later to make it 2-0 Jones at the break.
The Bobcats allowed just one shot in the opening half, with
Sarah Sumrall making the save.
Driade Moreira's free kick from nearly 40 yards out somehow snuck past several defenders and the JC keeper as Southwest pulled within 2-1 in the 53rd minute.
That set off a four-goal barrage from JC over the ensuing 20 minutes, with Hodges scoring a pair and
Heather Sullivan and
Emily Riley adding goals.
Hodges ended the night with two goals and an assist and both
Lucy Critchell and
Odalys Garcia added two assists each.
The final shot tally was 36-3 in favor of Jones. Camila Cevallos had 14 saves for SMCC, while
Alexis Wilson and Sumrall combined for two stops.
Jones will close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 18 at Pearl River. Start time is 5 p.m. and the match can be seen on
