ELLISVILLE – The No. 6 Jones College Lady Bobcats crushed Meridian Community College 80-48 here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
It was the 14th straight victory for Jones. The Lady Bobcats are now 16-1 overall and top the MACJC South Division at 8-0.
Jones used a 47-23 second half to pull away from Meridian.
It was a battle throughout the first half.
Jones led 15-13 after the first quarter and MCC tied it at 15-15 to start the second quarter.
A 3-pointer by
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) gave Jones its longest lead of the first half at 31-22 with 3:29 showing and a drive to the goal by
Lekera Hughes (Oak Grove) with five seconds left gave the Lady Bobcats a 33-25 halftime lead.
Jones used a 17-0 run to take command early in the third quarter. A
Chyna Allen (Harrison Central) basket at 3:15 ended the run and put the Lady Bobcats up, 52-28.

Vilma Covane (Mozambique) basket off a
Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) assist with eight seconds showing gave Jones a 59-34 lead entering the final quarter.
A Hughes 3-pointer with 5:48 to play in the game gave Jones its longest lead at 71-36.
Keyara Jones had 20 points (four 3-pointers) to pace the Lady Bobcats.
Jatyjia Jones (Ingomar) added 12 and Covane finished with 10
Jada Arrington had 15 points and Jordan Bell added 11 for Meridian. The Lady Eagles are 9-8 overall and 3-5 in division play.
Jones travels to Utica for a 5:30 p.m. Monday game vs. Hinds Community College
