No. 8 Lady Bobcats post 12th straight victory

ELLISVILLE – The No. 9 Jones College Lady Bobcats won its 12th straight game here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The Lady Bobcats received seven 3-pointers from Keyara Jones (Heidelberg), including six in the first half, as they rolled to a 91-57 decision over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Jones is now 14-1 overall and they lead the MACJC South Division with a 6-0 mark.
Jones took the lead for good when Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) hit a 3-pointer to end the first quarter to make it 22-20.
The Lady Bobcats were up 31-25 when Maya Jones (Northwest Rankin) scored at 4:51, Haymer scored and Keyara Jones hit a 3-pointer from the left corner to make it 38-25 with 2:15 showing. 
After a MGCCC free throw, Kyia Weathersby (Collins) scored at 1:46. MGCCC's Nakendra Owens hit a 3-pointer to make it 40-29 with 1:19 left.
Keyara Jones then made a trey at 1:03 and followed with another with 33 seconds left to give the Lady Bobcats a 46-29 halftime lead.
Aleah Sutton hit a 3-pointer to start the second half for the Lady Bulldogs to make it 46-32, but that was as close as the visitors would get.
Jones gradually expanded the lead and took a 65-40 advantage at the end of the third quarter when Lekera Hughes (Oak Grove) got a steal and score.
The Lady Bobcats' longest lead would be 89-51 with 2:22 to play when Jatyjia Jones (Ingomar) made a free throw.
Keyara Jones led the Lady Bobcat with 26 points – 20 of those coming in the first half. Haymer had 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Maya Jones had 10 points and Weathersby had nine.
Breannah McCullah led MGCCC with 15 points and Daphane White added 12. 
The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-6 overall, 3-3 in the division.
Jones closes the first round of division play with a 5:30 p.m. game Monday at Copiah-Lincoln.
MGCCC hosts Hinds on Monday.
