SUMMIT – The 13th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats blitzed Southwest Mississippi, 9-0, here Tuesday afternoon.
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) and
Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) each had 'hat tricks' as Jones rolled to the win.
The Lady Bobcats are now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the MACJC South Division. The Lady Bobcats will host unbeaten and 12th-rated Holmes at 5 p.m. Friday.
Rachel Barnaby (Derry, Ireland) scored at 1:59, followed by Banks at 18:16 and Figueroa at 20:00 to give Jones a 3-0 lead. Figueroa's second goal came at 36:57 and Barnaby's goal at 40:17 made it 5-0. A second goal by Banks made it 6-0 at halftime.
Olivia Simpson's (George County) goal at 75:35 made it 7-0. Goals by Banks and Figueroa in the final five minutes ended the scoring.
Jones had two assists each from
Madison LaFontaine (Pass Christian) and
Allie James (West Jones). Banks, Barnaby and Figueroa each had an assist.
Alexis Wilson (Long Beach) was in goal for Jones in the first half and
Skyler Steede (George County) played the second half.
Southwest, 1-8 overall and 0-4 in the division, meets LSU-Eunice Friday in Lafayette, Louisiana.
