ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Lady Bobcats blitzed Northwest Mississippi 8-0 here Monday afternoon at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Jones dominated from the start, taking a 6-0 lead at halftime.
Jones is now 2-0, while Northwest falls to 2-1.
Madison LaFontaine (Pass Christian) got the scoring started at 7:29 with a goal.
Aimee Durn (London, England) scored at 17:27 off an assist by
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) to make it 2-0. Banks scored at 20:47 with
Heather Sullivan (Pearl) assisting. Banks scored an unassisted goal at 32:21 to give Jones a 4-0 lead.
Allie James (West Jones) scored at 41:12 with
Mary Ann O'Kennedy (Sligo, Ireland) getting the assist.
Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) put the ball in the net via a Durn assist at 43:48 to make it 6-0.
An
Olivia Simpson (George County) goal off a Durn assist at 77:42 made it 7-0.
Anna Grace Gieger (West Jones) ended the scoring at 84:20 with Durn getting her third assist of the game.
Jones outshot Northwest by a whopping 39-2 margin. The Lady Bobcats had nine corner kicks, compared to none for the Lady Rangers.
Alexis Wilson (Long Beach) was in goal for Jones and was credited with one save.
Angel Hailey played the first half in goal for Northwest and Makenzie Ellis played the second half.
The Lady Bobcats open MACJC South Division play with a 1 p.m. game Saturday at Southwest.
Northwest visits Meridian on Tuesday.
