ELLISVILLE – No. 25 Jones County defeated East Central 7-2 here Thursday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats won five of the singles points.
Mitar Milosavljevic (Serbia) beat Tom Langelaar in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) beat Joseph Jabour in No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus) rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 win over Emontie Lewis in No. 4 singles.
Erich Fischer (Wesson) defeated Landon Gibson in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
Daniel Tanious (Laurel Christian School) downed Isaac Keen in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Willie Wooten beat
Cody Courtney (Florence) in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
In extra matches, Jake Wofford beat
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones), 4-6, 7-5 (9). Will Ladner defeated
Conner Henderson (Petal), 8-5.
In No. 2 doubles, Monsalve and Estrada beat Wooten and Gibson, 8-5. In No. 3 doubles, Fischer and Slover edged Lewis and Wofford, 9-8 (5). Langelaar and Jabour beat Milosavljevic and Courtney in No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
JCJC, 6-9, hosts Hinds at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
East Central, 1-11, goes to Marion Military Institute (Alabama) on Saturday.
