ELLISVILLE – The No. 25 Jones County Junior College Bobcats blanked Holmes 9-0 in the regular season finale here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
It was also "Sophomore Day" as Bobcat sophomores
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus) and
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) were recognized before the match.
The Bobcats end regular season play at 7-11 and will now participate in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament in Meridian April 19-21.
The Bobcats rolled in all of their matches.
Mitar Milosavljevic (Serbia) and
Cody Courtney (Florence) won No. 1 doubles over Dallas Elmore and Marcus Montfort, 8-1.
Noel Monsalve (Venezeula) and Estrada blanked Joshua Maughar and Nic Bails in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and Slover blanked Chris Stuckey and Richard Hernandez in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Milosavljevic defeated Elmore in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Monsalve beat Montfort in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Courtney downed Jacob Hawkins in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Estrada beat Maughar in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Fischer blanked Bails in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Daniel Tanious (Laurel Christian School) shut out Rylee Artman in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Holmes, 0-8, is scheduled to end regular season play at Itawamba on Saturday.
