PERKINSTON – No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast blanked No. 2 Jones County 9-0 in men's tennis here Tuesday aftenroon.
In No. 1 doubles, Travis Bell and Austin Vos defeated
Mitar Milosavljevic (Serbia) and
Cody Courtney (Florence), 8-3. In No. 2 doubles, John Murphy and Noah Rowell defeated
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) and
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus), 8-4. In No. 3 doubles, Evan Chubb and Reid Cudd beat
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones), 8-5.
Vos beat Milosavljevic in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Bell downed Monsalve in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3. In No. 3 singles, Murphy defeated Courtney, 6-1, 6-2. Chubb beat Estrada in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 7-6 (10-7). In No. 5 singles, Cudd beat Fischer, 6-0, 6-1 and in No. 6 singles, Austin Moore downed
Daniel Tanious (Laurel Christian School), 6-1, 6-4.
Slover won an extra match, 8-3, and
Conner Henderson (Petal) won an extra match, 8-5.
JCJC is now 2-4 and the Bulldogs are 6-0.
JCJC visits Itawamba for a 2 p.m. Thursday match and will face Blue Mountain College in a 10 a.m. match on Friday in New Albany.
MGCCC's next match will be March 20 vs. Cowley County (Kansas) in Meridian.
