ELLISVILLE – No. 25 Jones County dropped an 8-1 decision to No. 10 Meridian here Monday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
JCJC's lone win came in No. 2 singles where
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) defeated Lachlan Ivulich, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
In No. 1 singles, Marco Puric beat
Mitar Milosavljevic (Serbia), 6-3, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Zachery Presnall beat
Cody Courtney (Florence), 6-1, 6-3. Callan Shinall outlasted
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus) in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-1, 10-8. Max Mauney downed
Erich Fischer (Wesson) in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Will Swindoll won No. 6 singles over
Daniel Tanious (Laurel Christian School), 6-0, 6-0. In an extra match, Chase Rigdon defeated
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones), 8-6.
Swindoll and Ivulich took No. 1 doubles over Milosavljevic and Courtney, 8-2. Puric and Shinall won No. 2 doubles over Monsalve and Estrada, 8-5. Mauney and Presnall beat Fischer and Slover in No. 3 doubles, 8-2. In an extra match, Michail Phillips and Rigdon beat Tanious and
Conner Henderson (Petal), 8-3.
JCJC drops to 3-8, while Meridian is now 7-6.
The Bobcats host Wallace St.-Hanceville (Alabama) at 1 p.m. Tuesday and go to Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday.
Meridian visits East Central on Tuesday.
