ELLISVILLE – The 17th-ranked Copiah-Lincoln men's tennis team downed No. 22 Jones County 7-2 here Thurday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Cours.
JCJC's
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus) downed Sebastian Harrell and Tripp Wyatt in No. 2 doubles, 9-7.
Co-Lin's Sebastian Osorio and Juan Pinilla beat
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) and
Daniel Tanious (Laurel Christian School) in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Co-Lin's Tripp Case and Braden Ishee defeated
Cody Courtney (Florence) and
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
JCJC's lone win in singles came when Courtney blanked Logan Channell, 6-0, 6-0.
In No. 1 singles, Osorio beat Tanious, 6-1, 6-0. Pinilla defeated Monsalve in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4. In No. 4 singles, Case downed Estrada, 6-4, 6-2. Ishee edged Fischer in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9. Wyatt beat Slover in No. 6 singles, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
In an extra match, Co-Lin's Bishop Barlow defeated
Conner Henderson (Petal), 8-3.
The Bobcats,1-1 go to Hinds at 1 p.m. Monday, while Co-Lin, 1-0, hosts East Central Tuesday.
