GOODMAN – The No. 22 Jones County Junior College men's tennis beat Holmes Community College 8-1 in the season opener here Tuesday afternoon.
JCJC won all six of the singles points.
In No. 1 singles,
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) blanked Dallas Elmore, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 2 singles,
Cody Courtney (Florence) downed Marcus Montfort, 6-3, 6-2.
James Estrada (St. Stanislaus) defeated Jacob Hawkins in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1. In No. 4 singles, Erich Fischer (Wesson) whipped Joshua Maughar, 6-0, 6-1.
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) rolled past Nic Bails in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 6 singles,
Conner Henderson (Petal) outlasted Richard Hernandez, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.
In No. 2 doubles, Estrada and Fischer beat Maughar and Bails, 8-6. In No. 3 doubles, Courtney and Slover downed Christopher Stuckey and Rylee Artman, 8-3.
Holmes won No. 1 doubles with Elmore and Montfort defeating Monsalve and Henderson, 8-6.JCJC men posted an 8-1 decision over the Bulldogs.
JCJC hosts Copiah-Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Holmes travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday.
