No. 3 Lady Bobcats hold off Co-Lin, 80-76

ELLISVILLE – Alexis Tolefree (Conway, Arkansas) made two free throws with 6.8 seconds left as third-ranked Jones County Junior College held off Copiah-Lincoln Community College 80-76 here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
It was the ninth straight victory for Jones.
JCJC is now 15-2 overall and 8-0 in the MACJC South Division. Co-Lin falls to 14-3 overall, 5-3 in the division.
JCJC was in control for most of the first half.
K.K. Tassin (Terry) made two free throws with no time showing to give Jones a 25-13 lead after the first quarter.
Tassin's 3-pointer with 5:22 left in the first half gave JCJC a 36-19 lead. ZaKyia Weathersby's (Collins) basket with :28 remaining gave Jones its biggest lead of the game at 44-25. The Lady Bobcats were up 44-27 at halftime.
Co-Lin, however, outscored JCJC 18-3 to start the third quarter. Nakeisha Holcomb's basket with 4:39 left in the period pulled the Lady Wolves to within 47-45.
But Jones would recover and take a 62-49 lead with 1:10 left in the quarter on a 3-pointer by Tolefree. The Lady Bobcats led 62-50 going into the final period.
Nique Cherry's (Heidelberg) layup gave JCJC a 71-60 lead with 4:34 left.
But Co-Lin would rally.
A steal and layup by Brittany Rose cut the lead to 77-74 with 34.4 seconds to play.
Breonca Ducksworth's (West Jones) free throw gave Jones a 78-74 lead with 17.7 seconds remaining.
Rose scored to make it 78-76 with 11.1 seconds to play, but Tolefree's free throws would clinch it.
Tolefree led JCJC with 31 points, including a 10-for-10 night at the free throw line. The Ole Miss signee also made five 3-pointers.
Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) recorded her 14th 'double-double' of the season with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Camryn London (Birmingham, Alabama) had 15 points and Tassin finished with 10.
Tassin had 5 assists and Tolefree had 4 steals.
The Lady Bobcats were 22-of-62 from the field (8-of-21 from 3-point range) for 36 percent. JCJC was 28-of-39 from the free throw line.
Rose had 18 points for Co-Lin. Diamond Smith and Alexus Holt had 12 points each and Kyeonia Harris added 10.
Co-Lin was 31-of-74 from the floor (7-of-21 from 3-point range) for 42 percent. The Lady Wolves were 7-of-8 from the foul line.
Each team had 45 rebounds.
Jones travels to Utica to face Hinds at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The game will air on www.hindsccsports.com.
Co-Lin hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday.
