ELLISVILLE – The No. 13 Jones College Lady Bobcats scored the first 10 points of the game and were never headed as they routed Coastal Alabama-North, 90-56, here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The Lady Bobcats, 6-1, will play again at 2 p.m. on Dec. 15 at unbeaten and 4
th-ranked Shelton State (Alabama).
Jones took a 19-6 lead at 4:17 of the first quarter when
Endia Holliday (South Jones) scored. A layup at the buzzer by
Ty Hawkins (Brentwood, New York) made it 25-12 after the first quarter.
A basket by
Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) gave Jones a 36-16 lead with 5:43 left in the second quarter. The Lady Bobcats would lead 43-24 at halftime.
A putback by Holliday capped a 10-0 run and gave Jones a 61-32 lead with 2:18 remaining in the third quarter. The Lady Bobcats led 65-39 heading into the final period.
Jones would take its longest leads at 86-50 and 90-54.
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) led Jones with 23 points, while Haymer and
Kyia Weathersby (Collins) added 10 each.
Weathersby had eight rebounds and Holliday added seven. Haymer had eight assists and seven steals.
Charlisa Wellington had 25 points for Coastal Alabama-North, 5-10.
The Lady Eagles host Snead State (Alabama) on Saturday.
