GOODMAN – Jones College dropped a 64-56 decision to No. 13 Holmes here Thursday night at Ras Branch Coliseum.
The Bobcats battled the defending Region 23 champions close all evening, but came up short.
Holmes led 20-18 midway through the first half and 34-29 at halftime. Jones tied the game at 36-36 with 15:47 remaining, but Holmes would take a 56-50 lead with 4:21 to play.
Shardarrion Allen (Raymond) paced the Bobcats with 14 points and
Kenneth Rogers (Starkville) added 13.
Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) had nine,
Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) added six,
Casey Smith Jr. (Columbus) had five,
David Gaines Jr. (Wayne County) had four,
David McCoy (Meridian) finished with three and
Michael Williams Jr. (Rayville, Jr.) had two.
Allen and Smith had four rebounds each and Smith had eight assists.
Kassim Nicholson led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Winford Ross had 15 and Czar Perry added 14.
The Bobcats, 2-1, will host Louisiana Christian Prep at 6 p.m. Monday.
Holmes, 2-0, entertains Hinds on Monday.
