ELLISVILLE – It was over quicky here Wednesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The 16th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats scored two goals in the game's first 30 seconds and went on to crush Southwest Mississippi, 12-2.
The win improves Jones to 8-2 overall and keeps the Lady Bobcats in sole possession of first place in the MACJC South Division at 5-0.
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) scored at :12 with
Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) getting the assist.
Aimee Durn (London, England) scored at :30 to make it 2-0.
Esmeralda Figueroa's goal at 4:21 on a
Madison LaFontaine (Pass Christian) assist made it 3-0. Banks assisted Durn at 8:40 and Durn got her third goal of the game at 14:27 on an assist by
Esmeralda Figueroa to make it 5-0.
Rachel Barnaby (Derry, Ireland) drilled the ball into the net on a free kick at 19:13 and scored on a Durn assist at 19:44 to make it 7-0.
Emily Riley (Gautier) scored at 30:03 and
Allie James (West Jones) put the ball in the goal at 36:02 to give Jones a 9-0 lead going into halftime.
Barnaby scored at 65:10 and
Ariceli Figueroa's (Northeast Jones) at 75:00 made it 11-0.
The Lady Bears got goals from Auset Gibbs at 82:13 and 83:05 to make it 11-2.
The final goal came at 84:05 when
Zakiah Almatrood (Biloxi) scored with LaFontaine getting the assist.
Skyler Steede (George County) was in goal for the first half and
Alexis Wilson (Long Beach) played the second half for the Lady Bobcats.
Jones will play at Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 5 p.m. game on Tuesday.
Southwest, 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the division, hosts Pearl River on Saturday.
