ELLISVILLE –
Aimee Durn (Watford, England),
Mary Margaret Parker (Sacred Heart) and
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) were involved in each goal for No. 19 Jones County here Friday afternoon at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Durn had four goals and an assist, Parker had two goals and an assist and Banks had two goal as No. 19 Jones County whipped Meridian, 8-1.
The game was scoreless for most of the first half before JCJC broke through.
Durn scored at 36:35 and then again at 40:15 off a Parker assist to give JCJC a 2-0 halftime lead.
Durn's goal at 46:48 made it 3-0 and Parker's goal at 54:11 gave the Lady Bobcats a 4-0 lead.
Meridian avoided the shutout when Clair Campbell scored on a penalty kick at 62:33.
But Jones resumed its scoring frenzy when Banks scored at 78:38. Moments later,
Zakiah Almatrood (Biloxi) assisted Durn to make it 6-1.
Banks put Durn's corner kick into the back of the net at 86:42 and Parker ended the scoring at 88:19.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the first half and
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) was in goal for the second half for the Lady Bobcats.
JCJC is now 3-0 overall and in the MACJC South Division.
Meridian falls to 0-4 overall, 0-2 in the division.
The Lady Bobcats return to action at 5 p.m. on Sept. 15 when they host Pearl River.
Meridian entertains Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
