RIDGELAND – No. 19 Holmes edged Jones County 3-2 here Wednesday evening in a battle of unbeaten teams and division leaders.
Jones took a 1-0 lead in the 51
st minute when
Aimee Durn (Watford, England) scored off an
Anna Kate Howard (South Jones) assist.
Holmes tied it in the 59
th minute when Kendal Walsh scored off a Sarah Donahoo assist. Taylor Gagneaux's goal off a Donahoo assist in the 72
nd minute gave the Lady Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. A Madison Deslatte goal in the 80
th minute made it 3-1. Courtney Turner and Walsh were credited with an assist.
Durn's goal in the 85
th minute ended the scoring.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the first half for Jones.
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the second half.
The Lady Bobcats are now 5-1-1, while Holmes improves to 8-0.
JCJC resumes South Division play with a 5 p.m. game Tuesday at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Holmes hosts Southwest on Friday.
