RIDGELAND – No. 19 Holmes edged Jones County 3-2 here Wednesday evening in a battle of unbeaten teams and division leaders.
Jones took a 1-0 lead in the 51^st minute when Aimee Durn (Watford, England) scored off an Anna Kate Howard (South Jones) assist.
Holmes tied it in the 59^th minute when Kendal Walsh scored off a Sarah Donahoo assist. Taylor Gagneaux's goal off a Donahoo assist in the 72^nd minute gave the Lady Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. A Madison Deslatte goal in the 80^th minute made it 3-1. Courtney Turner and Walsh were credited with an assist.
Durn's goal in the 85^th minute ended the scoring.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the first half for Jones. Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the second half.
The Lady Bobcats are now 5-1-1, while Holmes improves to 8-0.
JCJC resumes South Division play with a 5 p.m. game Tuesday at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Holmes hosts Southwest on Friday.
