ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College and Pearl River battled to a 1-1, double overtime tie here Friday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The two teams played two, 45-minute halves and two, 10-minute overtime periods and could not determine a winner.
The game's two goals were scored within a five-minute stretch of the first half.
JCJC's
Mary Margaret Parker (Sacred Heart) put the ball into the back of the net off an assist by
Aimee Durn (Watford, England) at 14:05.
Pearl River tied the game at 18:57 when Kayla Nobles scored.
Both teams had chances during regulation and JCJC had more opportunities in the extra sessions, but could not capitalize.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal the entire 110 minutes for JCJC, while Karsen Gildea did the same for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Bobcats are now 3-0-1 overall and in division play. Pearl River is 3-0-2 overall and 2-0-2 in division play.
The Lady Bobcats will now host Itawamba at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The Navarro College (Texas) at JCJC women's game originally set for Saturday, Sept. 16, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
Pearl River visits Hinds on Wednesday.
