JCJC blanks Rangers in men's tennis, 9-0

SENATOBIA – Jones County Junior College blanked Northwest 9-0 here Friday afternoon.
In No. 1 doubles, Taqel Lewis (St. Lucia) and Diego Leal (Colombia) defeated Joshua Stephenson and Adam Holley, 8-2. Chase Pennington (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) and Brandon McCary (Wayne County) beat Zak Harbin and Dalton Young in No. 2 doubles, 8-6. Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) and Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy) shut out Xavier Curtis and Quentin Hutchinson in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Lewis beat Stephenson in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Leal whipped Harbin in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Pennington edged Young in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8. Bozeman outlasted Holley in No. 4 singles, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 10-7. McCary blanked Curtis in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Armstrong shut out Hutchinson in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Jones is now 7-5 and the Rangers are 2-5.
Jones plays its final regular season home match at 2 p.m. on Monday vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast and they end regular season play at East Central on Wednesday.
Northwest goes to Hinds on Tuesday.
The MACJC/Region 23 Tournament is slated for April 19-22 at MGCCC.
