ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College whipped Hinds Community College 8-1 here Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
Jones swept the singles' matches.
Taquel Lewis (St. Lucia) beat Daniel Yepez in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Diego Leal (Colombia) whipped Christian Crapps in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Chase Pennington (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) defeated Matthew Burkes in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-0.
Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) downed Jamal Holmes-Griffin in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3. In No. 5 singles,
Brandon McCary (Wayne County) beat John Dennis in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy) rolled past Aaron Galloway in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Lewis and Leal beat Yepez and Dennis in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Bozeman and Armstrong defeated Holmes-Griffin and Ryan Wheeler in No. 3 doubles, 8-1. In No. 2 doubles, Pennington and McCary lost to Crapps and Burkes, 8-6.
In an extra match,
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) and
Blake Taylor (Northwest Rankin) defeated Victor Villareal and Hayden Hendon, 6-0, 6-1.
JCJC, 6-6, travels to Northwest on Friday and hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. on Monday in its final home match of the year.
Hinds, 2-12, hosts Holmes on Thursday.
