Itawamba edges Bobcats, 5-4

ELLISVILLE – Itawamba edged Jones County 5-4 here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
Itawamba won two of the doubles' points.
Taqel Lewis (St. Lucia) and Diego Leal (Colombia) beat David Garcia Perez and Ezra Blissard in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Chase Pennington (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) and Brandon McCary (Wayne County) fell to Chris Shands and Brendan Jobe in No. 2 doubles, 8-6. Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy) and Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) lost to Michael Crotts and Roberto Valadez in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
Lewis beat Perez in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Leal defeated Jobe in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Pennington downed Blissard in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Shands edged Bozeman in No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. Valadez beat Armstrong in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Crotts defeated McCary in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
JCJC, 5-4, hosts Meridian at 2 p.m. on Monday.
Itawamba, 7-4, travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Saturday.
