GOODMAN – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team blanked Holmes Community College 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon.
In No. 1 doubles,
Taqel Lewis (St. Lucia) and
Diego Leal (Colombia) defeated Matthew Philley and Matthew Dubourg, 8-2. In No. 2 doubles,
Chase Pennington (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) and
Brandon McCary (Wayne County) beat Eric Menefee and Merritt Blackwell, 8-1, and in No. 3 doubles,
Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) and
Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy) downed Christopher Stuckey and Emanuel Brooks, 8-1.
Lewis beat Philley in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Leal downed Menefee in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Pennington whipped Blackwell in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and in No. 4 singles, Bozeman beat Dubourg, 6-4, 6-2. Armstrong beat Hayden Switzer in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and in No. 6 singles, McCary downed Rylee Artman, 6-4, 6-0.
JCJC also won two extra matches.
Blake Taylor (Northwest Rankin) beat Brooks, 8-6, and
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) defeated Stuckey, 8-3.
The Bobcats improve to 4-2 on the year.
JCJC goes to Hinds on Thursday and Itawamba on Saturday.
Holmes visits Northeast on Thursday.
