JCJC loses in men's tennis to Meridian

MERIDIAN – Meridian Community College defeated Jones County Junior College 8-1 in men's tennis here Monday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.
JCJC's only win came in No. 2 singles where Diego Leal (Colombia) beat Breno Goncalves, 6-4, 6-4.
In No. 1 singles, Jason Pimenta beat Taqel Lewis (St. Lucia), 6-1, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Will Swindoll defeated Chase Pennington. In No. 4 singles, Callen Shinall downed Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven), 6-4, 5-7, 10-6. In No. 5 singles, Noah James defeated Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy), 6-2, 6-2, and in No. 6 singles, Will Irvin downed Brandon McCary (Wayne County), 6-3, 6-2.
Pimenta and Swindoll beat Lewis and Leal in No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Goncalves and Shinall downed Pennington and McCary in No. 2 doubles, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles, James and J.T. Champion defeated Bozeman and Armstrong, 8-6.
The Bobcats are 3-2 on the year.
Jones will visit Holmes on Tuesday and Hinds on Thursday.
Meridian travels to East Central on Wednesday.
